Major Lazer are having another record year in 2016. Currently, the dancehall-driven heroes are riding the waves of their latest number one hit, the Justin Bieber and MØ-assisted, “Cold Water.” The trio are in the final stages of recording a new LP due in early 2017, this past weekend, they held down a top-billed slot at Lollapalooza’s 25th anniversary this past weekend. Appearing in rare form, Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Jillionaire put on a show at Lollapalooza that Chicago won’t soon forget.
With Chicago Bulls jerseys deferentially hidden beneath their fully white ensemble, Major Lazer begin their set with the familiar drum line of “Pon Di Floor” before cruising through their massive catalogue of hits. Including crowd favorites like “Roll The Bass” and “Watch Out For This (Bumaye)”, as well as well-received tracks from Valentino Khan, Sean Paul, Calvin Harris, and A-Trak, Major Lazer’s electrifying show in Grant Park proves that the veteran group continues to perform at the top of their game.
