Martin Garrix at Ushuaïa Ibiza
Thursdays at Ushuaïa Ibiza are causing roadblocks in the Playa d’en Bossa of Ibiza as revelers descend upon the impressive outdoor venue to see Martin Garrix perform. Also, he has made space in his weekly roster for many emerging artists who have released on his STMPD RCRDS imprint during his nine-week residency. In recent weeks he has been joined by Justin Mylo, Blinders, Vintage Culture, and Loopers. More established artists like A Trak, Lost Frequencies, Dyro, and Julian Jordan have performed alongside him.
For his headline set, Martin Garrix lays heavy on his own productions. “Byte”, “There For You”, “Virus”, “Scared to Be Lonely” and “Break Through the Silence” all featured in his set. Conversely, other artists often lean towards popular tracks or crowd-pleasers as feature tracks for their sets but Martin Garrix stayed true to his own music.
Martin Garrix closed his set with one of his latest releases, “Ocean”. The track is a beautiful, soft electronic crossover featuring American singer Khalid. His anthemic, emotive collaboration “Forever” with longtime friends and producers Matisse & Sadko brought the curtain down on another successful week.
MORE THAN JUST THE MUSIC
All too often the artist and their music is the sole focus of attention and admiration. At the same time this is deserved, yet, another aspect worth considering is the other entities that organize and produce a live show that is not only acoustically pleasing but also visually spectacular.
Lorenzo Depa and Gabe Fraboni are part of Martin Garrix’s creative team and their work is nothing short of stunning. They push the boundaries of creativity within their field and constantly develop fresh concepts that are a sight to behold. This is a show to be enjoyed from the back where you can absorb the greatness of the visual display.
The stage design for all events at Ushuaïa Ibiza is provided by High Scream. Romain Pissenem, the founder of High Scream, and his team collaborate with Ushuaïa Ibiza resident artists and their creative teams each year to design a stage that is both unique and impressive.
In recent weeks, Martin Garrix released his track “High on Life” featuring Bonn on STMPD RCRDS and it is available for streaming and download now. Check out the new track below.
